As of July 2022, Google Drive made a change and Docs To Go will no longer open password protected files stored in Drive.

Since Docs To Go was discontinued in March 2022, this issue will not be fixed.

A workaround to this problem is to email yourself the password protected file and then open it in Docs To Go or use a different cloud account like DropBox or Box to store the file.

If you are having issues with your keyboard disappearing while you’re typing we have a known issue with the Samsung keyboard in this regard.

Download the Google Keyboard from Google Play and trying using that with Docs To Go. It’s a free download in the Play store.

To unpair and “re-pair” the Desktop and the iOS device, follow these steps:

  1. Open Documents To Go Desktop on the computer.
  2. Go to the Options menu (Windows) and select “Remove Device” (click Yes).
  3. Once the device is removed, close Documents To Go Desktop.
  4. Open Documents To Go on the Android device.
  5. Go to Settings/Manage Desktops then select your computer name under “Desktops.”
  6. Tap the “Delete This Desktop” button.
  7. Once the desktop is removed, close Documents To Go on the device.
  8. Reopen Documents To Go on both your computer and your device.
  9. In Documents To Go Desktop on the computer, go to the Options menu (Windows)and select “Add Device” (or it may automatically run the Add Device Wizard).
  10. Follow the steps in the Add Device Wizard to complete the pairing, then try to synchronize (make sure you are in the Desktop tab on your device).

There is no actual print feature built into Documents To Go. You can open a file that was created in Docs To Go with another viewer-type app in Android and print from there. But you cannot print directly from Docs To Go.

Sometimes when you go to delete a desktop computer from being paired to an Android device, the desktop can’t be deleted and shows up as gray text in Docs To Go.

This is actually common when you use  “Smartswitch” or some other similar tool to move into a new phone.  Even if you didn’t, you can follow these instructions to fix this issue.

The best way to handle this is to delete the following files from the phone and then re-set up sync. You can either connect your phone to a desktop device with a USB cable or you can use a File Manager app to do this (Astro File manager work but you might need to turn on “show hidden files).  If you have an internal and external card in your phone, you’ll see two drives mounted on your computer – probably “Phone” and “Card”.  You want to navigate each of those locations individually and look for (and delete) the following files –

Phone/android/dtgsync/dinfo.doc

Phone/DataVizSync/dtaccounts.doc

— and/or –

Card/android/dtgsync/dinfo.doc

Card/DataVizSync/dtaccounts.doc

Once all those files are deleted from both the internal (phone) and external (card) storages if applicable, the pairing should be 100% gone, and you should be able to pair from scratch and sync.

If you previously purchased Docs To Go Premium through an in app purchase on your Android device, you should be able to install Docs To Go Office Suite (formerly Docs To Go Free Office Suite) and they premium features should appear automatically. If they don’t, try these steps in order:

  1. Restart your phone to see if that triggers the premium features to show up.
  2. If restarting didn’t work, go to Google Play and tap on the letter in the upper right corner to get to your Google Play account.
  3. Go to Purchases and Subscriptions then to Budget & History
  4. Search for Premium Unlock, Cloud File Access or Desktop Sync. If you don’t see any of these in your purchase history then you probably don’t have the Gmail account that was used to purchase the app added to your phone. To add that account, go to the Settings app on the phone and go to Accounts. Then add the email account (most likely a Gmail account).

Once you do that, go back to the Play store and go to the letter in the upper corner and toggle to the correct account and again look for Premium Unlock, Cloud File Access or Desktop Sync. If you see it, try Docs To Go again to see if the premium features have shown up.

If they haven’t, try restarting the phone and then if necessary, uninstalling and reinstalling Docs To Go Office Suite to see the premium features.

If you are using the free version of Docs To Go without any paid premium features:

  1. Go to the app store on your device.
  2. Search for Docs To Go Office Suite (previously called Docs To Go Free Edition), and tap on it.
  3. Once it is downloaded, you can tap Open to start using it.

If you are using Docs To Go Premium (either via an in app purchase or with the Docs To Go Premium Key):

  1. ¨Go to the Google Play store on your device.
  2. Install Docs To Go Office Suite (formerly Docs To Go Free Edition)
  3. If you originally purchased Docs To Go Premium as an in app purchase, that’s all you need to do.  The premium features will automatically work. If they don’t, click here.
  4. If you purchased Docs To Go Premium Key as a separate app, then in addition to Docs To Go Office Suite, you will also need to download the Premium Key. To do that:

Docs To Go was experiencing an issue where it was giving a “Handshake error” when trying to open a file.

In addition, there was a problem where every day, you needed to create a new connection to DropBox as it was not “remembering” that you authorized it to use DropBox.

This issue has been FIXED with our latest version released 4/20/22 version 4.004 (1611)

You will have to do the following steps in order for the fix to work:

  1. Go to Docs To Go/Settings/Manage Cloud
  2. Delete DropBox
  3. Go to the Cloud tab
  4. Add DropBox again (you’ll need your DropBox credentials to do this)

We apologize for the inconvenience.

The Premium key won’t show up in the Play store anymore since it’s been discontinued (as of March 2022).

You need to go to the Google Play store and click on the upper right to get into your account (you will see a letter in a circle – click there). You will then see Purchases and Subscriptions and then Budget & History. Under there, you will see Apps that you either downloaded for free or purchased. You will see Docs To Go Premium Key listed and then you can tap on that to download it.

If you cannot get into Google Drive because it says “Communication Failed” or it says “App is blocked” do the following:

  1. Go to Docs To Go/Settings/Manage Clouds
  2. Delete Google Drive
  3. Go back to the main Docs To Go screen and re-add Google Drive

This was a known issue but has now been resolved and the above instructions should fix it.
