Solution 1: The USB setting on the Android device may be defaulted to the incorrect setting (for example, Charging only).
Be sure to choose the correct option to “mount” the device in USB storage mode. This will vary on each Android device. You should see an option for either File Transfer, MTP or Mass Storage Mode and not USB Charging Only.

Solution 2: Turn off “Debugging” mode if it is currently on
Disconnect your device from USB

Go into your device “Settings” application (or from the home screen on the Android, hit Menu>>Settings)

Choose “Developer Options”

There should be an option for “Debugging” – Turn it off.

Reconnect your device via USB and try synchronizing/pairing the device and Windows PC again

Solution 3: The device may need to be restarted
Disconnect your Android from USB

Solution 4: Update Windows Media Player on your computer if you are running Windows Media Player version 10 or below
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/downloads/windows-media-player

Solution 5: Go to your device manufacturer’s website and see if there are any driver, firmware or software updates for your device or computer.
Samsung devices: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads

HTC devices: http://www.htc.com/us/

Motorola devices: http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-EN/Support-Homepage/Software_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers

Solution 6: Check to see if a file called “.dinfo” exists on your SD card
Connect your device to the computer via the USB cable

Mount the SD card/Turn on USB Mass Storage or File Transfer

Open the “My Computer” or “Computer” folder on your computer

Double click on your SD card drive. If your device’s card is mounted as drive F, for example, you would browse to the following location when your device is connected in USB storage mode: “F”:.dataviz.dinfo

Browse to a folder called “.dataviz” that exists on the card

Ensure that the file “.dinfo” file exists in that folder

If the file does NOT exist, try the following:

Dismount the SD card or simply disconnect the device from the computer

Open Docs To Go on the Android

Create a new Word document.

Save the file to the root level of the SD card

Connect the device via USB and mount the SD Card again

Check if that new file is at the root level of your card

If the file is there, try to pair or synchronize again

Solution 7: Run a Windows Update to make sure the system is up to date:
Connect your Android to the computer via USB

Mount the SD card/Turn on USB Mass Storage

Go into the Device Manager on your computer (right-click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager)

Look under “Universal Serial Bus controllers” in the device manager

If you see a USB driver listed in there with a yellow exclamation mark on it, right-click on that entry, choose Properties, the “Driver” tab, and select “Update Driver”

This will use Windows Update to search online for a more suitable driver for the USB device
