Your file likely only needs to be “refreshed”. Open the file in docs to go > tap on the top right corner, then tap on save as, and finally rename and save the file. After you do this, transfer the new file the same way you transferred the old file and you should be able to open it without an issue now.
You can also try opening the file in Google Sheets as it is usually able to correct the document as well.
